Hi, I’m B.J. Best. I like to make analog and digital things.

I’m a poet, writer, interactive fiction creator, game designer, artist, and musician. In particular, I’m interested in the intersection of computers and art in its many forms.

I’ve made a family of art-generating Twitter bots, shown computer-mediated artworks in galleries, and published a game for the Atari 2600 which procedurally generates its levels. In 2021, I won the annual Interactive Fiction Competition (IFComp), and I placed second in 2023.

This is what I look like in Lego form. I can play the banjo passably.
